All post-construction stormwater best management practices (P-BMPs) need continual maintenance and monitoring to remain functional and in compliance with both the approved plans and the locality’s permit. These P-BMPs range in design from the 17-proprietary designs to the many non-proprietary designs featured in the Virgina Stormwater Management Handbook. Without regular maintenance these facilities can quickly lose their functionality and will no longer adequately treat the stormwater that drains to them.
