Nature Based Solutions for Coastal Hazards

Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve and NOAA’s Office for Coastal Management are hosting a training for coastal managers and planners to plan and implement green (natural) infrastructure projects to reduce natural coastal hazards in their community.

Learning objectives:

1. Describe how green or natural infrastructure contributes to reducing the impacts of hazards and building resilience
2. Analyze factors for consideration when choosing and planning green or natural infrastructure projects, including hazard reduction benefits, co-benefits, design, maintenance and cost
3. Identify and assess approaches for successful implementation, including planning, funding, partners and stakeholder engagement
4. Identify local green or natural infrastructure projects and connect with local experts who can provide additional information and guidance
